The e-GIF Accreditation Authority operates two distinct programmes:
- Accreditation of Organisations - they are segregated into
External Service Providers, Training Providers, Product Providers, Central
Government departments and their agencies, Local Government, the devolved
administrations as voluntary partners, and the wider public sector,
e.g. non-departmental public bodies (NDPBs) and the National Health
Service. The Accreditation Programme is based on an annual accreditation
visit which is summarized into a comprehensive report. The full report
is confidential, but the synopsis and key findings are published by
the e-GIF Accreditation Authority on this web site.
- Certification of Skills - skills are assessed within 6 competences
(Interconnection, Data Integration, Content, e-Services Access, Smart
cards, and Specific Business Areas) and within 6 job roles (Design,
Develop/Test, Deploy/Support, Procure, Sell, and Train). The Certification
Programme offers two levels of certification: Foundation level and Expert.
The Authority operator, the National Computing Centre Ltd., also runs
an e-GIF Compliance Assessment Service www.egifcompliance.org
which provides a means of self-assessment of compliance status. This is
best used by Certified and or Expert e-GIF Practitioners as appropriate
to your circumstances.
The links between the roles individual may play, the e-GIF Accreditation
Authority and the e-GIF Compliance Assessment Service are illustrated
in the diagram below. The FAQ page holds this and other briefing materials
in addition to answers to many general questions of process.
